What Makes Old Age Miserable?

Getting old is a natural process. "Age is only a number, and our mind decides whether we have to be old or not," is a well-accepted saying. Despite these facts, becoming old and experiencing the associated miseries are unavoidable if we are careless. I would like to share three situations that make old age miserable:

1. Regret about the Past: In old age, we often find ourselves with lot of time to be confined to our own world, and sometimes, in the world of loneliness. We are haunted by regrets of our past actions. The guilt from this self-analysis can be too severe to get rid of.

2. Financial Insecurity: As we grow older, we become dependents and often have to be at the beck and call of our grown-up children. We have to shut  eyes and ears and swallow up our minimal desires, as even spending a penny on ourselves is considered an expenditure.

3. Physical Ailments: This is the biggest threat in old age, determining whether we remain a burden to others. Living in our own family as an unwanted person is the worst part of old age.

So, let’s prepare ourselves to face and live our evening years of life as happily as possible. First of all, let’s convince ourselves and accept the fact that whatever happened cannot be undone. It happened because it was destined to happen. Erase it with conscious effort. Have wise financial planning to ensure that you are free to use money for your personal requirements until our death. And above all, focus on our health by eating healthy food and doing basic exercises to keep fit. Be very careful not to have any falls and bone fractures. Eat well, exercise well, sleep well, and have positive thoughts.
